MAINTENANCE

Preventative maintenance is even more important today than it used to be, mainly because of initial cost of equipment and the ethanol in the fuel. Today mowers can cost thousands of dollars even from the big box stores and leave you with no service support. The ethanol in the fuel is a problem with engines that sit unused for an extended time. Keeping up with the maintenance will save you both time and money while preserving your investment.

        Preventative Service

Preventative maintenance is the single best way to protect your investment and extend the life of your outdoor power equipment(OPE).OPE depends on a very small amount of oil while the engine operates at full throttle often in a very dirty environment. Changing engine oil, keeping the air filter clean and cleaning the fuel system will not only extend the life of the equipment  but will assure the equipment operates properly each time.

We can set up a maintenance program to meet your needs and will inform you when maintenance is due along with insuring we have your parts in stock at time of service.

      Fuel Quality

One of the biggest issues facing outdoor power equipment(OPE) today is the addition of ethanol in the fuel. The properties of ethanol allow it to attract moisture, deteriorate certain rubbers and plastics and allows phase separation. In general terms the ethanol will absorb moisture into the fuel then with time it separates into layers causing the water to enter and interrupt the fuel system. This isn't as big of an issue with automobiles because the fuel is used rather quickly. In (OPE) it can sit for extended periods of time allowing this to occur. Fuel stabilizers can help if used properly.

     Blade Sharpening

We spend time and money on our lawns with fertilizers and the equipment to maintain it. The last thing that you want to do is beat it down with dull blades. Grass is a living plant that prefers tp be cut by a nice sharp edge with as little bruising as possible. The less bruising means that you won't see those yellow or brown tips on your grass a day or two after mowing and it will be less susceptible to disease and stress. The mower doesn't have to work as hard saving wear and tear on belts and bearings also conserving fuel.

Chainsaws should remove wood in chips and not saw dust, that is the easiest way to determine if your chain needs sharpening. A sharp chain will save time and energy to cut those logs.
